Becoming a Host Family

Every school year the PYLUSD International Student Program welcomes students from all over the world to enroll in one of our comprehensive high schools. Our goal is to offer these students the opportunity to have a traditional American high school experience. Through this program, students are allowed to attend public high school for one or two semesters and must pay the full, unsubsidized per capita cost of attending PYLUSD.  Our international students are in the United States for the sole purpose of study and must be enrolled full-time.

The majority of students are approved by international education agencies that recruit and assist students through the application process. These agencies match students with carefully selected local host families and assign a local representative who can assist host parents and students with any concerns. 

 

Become a Host Family!

Hosting an international student is a rewarding experience. You'll have the opportunity to experience the global world right in your home, while helping introduce American culture, and receive a monthly stipend. The Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District is a popular destination for international students.  Our International Student Program is growing and our partner agencies are always interested in finding new host families.  The host family experience is just as important as the school experience.
