Dear PYLUSD Community,
Out of an abundance of caution, and in support of our students, families, and staff currently impacted by the Blue Ridge Fire in the Yorba Linda area, the Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District (PYLUSD) is declaring an emergency non-instructional day for all students on Tuesday, October 27, 2020. This is due to the mandatory evacuations ordered by the Orange County Sheriff’s Department (OCSD) and Orange County Fire Authority (OCFA) in eastern Yorba Linda as well as the significantly poor air quality in the surrounding area as a result of the Blue Ridge Fire.
Accordingly, instruction, child care services, and all other district-wide activities will be cancelled for all students with the intent of returning on Wednesday, October 28, based on further guidance from OCSD and OCFA.
Grab and go meal service will still be available tomorrow from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Esperanza and El Dorado high schools, as well as Golden, Melrose, Rio Vista, and Topaz elementary schools.

Estimada Comunidad de PYLUSD,
Por precaución y en apoyo de nuestros estudiantes, familias y personal actualmente afectados por el incendio Blue Ridge en el área de Yorba Linda, el Distrito Escolar Unificado Placentia Yorba Linda (PYLUSD), está declarando un día sin clases de emergencia para todos los estudiantes, el martes 27 de octubre, 2020. Esto se debe a las evacuaciones obligatorias ordenadas por el Departamento del Sheriff del Condado de Orange (OCSD) y la Autoridad de Bomberos del Condado de Orange (OCFA) en el este de Yorba Linda, así como a la calidad del aire significativamente deficiente en los alrededores, como resultado del incendio en Blue Ridge.
En consecuencia, la instrucción, cuidado infantil y todas las demás actividades del distrito se cancelarán para todos los estudiantes, con la intención de regresar el miércoles 28 de octubre, según la guía adicional de OCSD y OCFA.
El servicio de comidas para llevar, seguirá disponible mañana de 11:00 am 1:00 pm en las preparatorias Esperanza y El Dorado, así como en las escuelas primarias Golden, Melrose, Rio Vista y Topaz.
