Three Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified Alumni are Selected to Perform this Summer with the Disneyland Resort’s All-American College Band
The Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District congratulates three recent graduates who received the distinct honor to play with the Disneyland Resort’s All-American College Band this summer.
The honorees are:
• Alex Hahn, a 2010 El Dorado High graduate who attends the University of North Texas;
• Connor Kent, a 2011 El Dorado High graduate who also attends the University of North Texas; and
• Ryan DeWeese, a 2012 Esperanza High graduate who is attends the Manhattan School of Music.
The Disneyland Resort held auditions at colleges and universities across the country to select the most outstanding musicians. Once selected, the All-American College Band honorees began rehearsals in June with only two weeks to learn the music and choreography. The band performs in five shows each day, Tuesday through Saturday.
Playing in the prestigious group is a once-in-a-lifetime learning experience as band members visit the Disney Studios in Burbank where they learn all about film scoring with writing, composing, copyrighting and distributing. In addition the band performs with several guest artists who share their experiences about the various aspects of the music business. The All-American College Band also performed at Disney movie premieres such as “Monsters University” and the “Lone Ranger.”
More than 9,000 students participate in the Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District’s elementary through high school music program. Hahn, Kent and DeWeese join seven other Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified alumni who have received this distinct recognition.
