The Mustangs completed one of the tests of true champions; they successfully defended their CIF Southern Section Division 5 Duals Championship at Irvine High School this past weekend. The Mustangs, who entered the CIF-SS Division 5 Dual Meet Wrestling Championships as the top seed had a first round bye and then defeated Beckman High School 47-24. They then kept the momentum by beating Santa Maria High School 55-12 setting up a championship match against the second seed, Arroyo of El Monte. The final match was a hard fought battle with the Mustangs ending the night with a 29-27 victory and completing their quest for back to back titles. This is the 3rd CIF title the wrestling team has won in the past 2 years.
