Medication Administration at School

Overview: California Education Code Section 49423 allows our school nurses or designated non-medical personnel to assist students who require medication during the school day. This service is provided to ensure that students can remain in school and continue their education.

Procedure: If your child needs to take medication while at school, whether it's prescription or over-the-counter, please follow these steps:

  1. Medication Authorization Form: Have your child's healthcare provider complete the medication authorization form provided below. This form ensures that our staff is aware of your child's medical needs and can administer medication safely.

  2. Parent Signature: Parents are required to sign the medication authorization form as well. Your signature confirms your consent for our staff to administer the medication to your child as needed.

  3. Bring Medication to Health Office: Please ensure that the medication is in its original container and bring it along with the completed medication authorization form to the health office.

Important Note: It's crucial for us to have accurate and up-to-date information regarding your child's medication needs. By following this procedure, you're helping us ensure the well-being and safety of your child while they're at school.

If you have any questions or concerns about our medication administration policy, please don't hesitate to contact the school's health office.
