Housing

The students in PYLUSD's International Student Program live in homestay arrangements. In a homestay, students can observe, learn, and experience a new lifestyle and culture, while practicing English skills in a home environment. Students are immersed in the daily experience of living with a host family. Homestay hosts involve their guests in day-to-day activities and often introduce the students to their relatives, friends, and neighbors. Homestay hosts also include their international student guests in social gatherings such as summertime barbecues, holiday celebrations, and trips to local tourist attractions. The majority of our international students live with a family that has children attending the same school.

While the PYLUSD does not place students with host families, we do partner with international student agencies that will arrange for placing students with a local family.  These agencies also assist students with the application process including processing forms, and documents, obtaining visas, etc.  Agency and homestay fees are in addition to PYLUSD tuition.

If you are interested in becoming a host family please contact us and we will provide you with a list of our International Student Agency partners.  An agency representative can provide you with the specifics of hosting a student including the application and approval process, host family responsibilities, and monthly compensation.
